From my first 2 Episodes you would remember the big boy who told the seniors his dad had a motor and was punished based on that. Yes that was Boye Ocansey Roosevelt but we mostly called him Boye. I had become so close to this big boy and followed him around with my slim and lanky body. Boye Ocansey has this admiration from seniors I just didnt know where it came from. Maybe the humour he adds to a conversation or because he was the only boy offering Home Economics at the time.
For some of us, we were always happy to have him in our group during house duties because he will do majority of the work. Boye knows how to weed, even better than ‘dead body’, When Boye joined the schools Fire Service cadet, it was his physical stature that became apparent so Senior Dennis, the cadet Commander, gave him a military uniform instead of the Fire service Uniform. Boye became the Bodyguard for the Headmaster during the School’s Anniversary and Speech days. He looked nice in the Uniform. I don’t know how and when Boye became the “schools Ambulance”. All I heard was he that carried sick people at his back from their the class and Dormitories to the Schools infirmary. Maybe because he became a prefect in form 3. I followed Boye around not because he will protect you from being bullied with his big body but because he was so hard working he will end up doing all the work. The last thing we wanted to hear was the demise of this great personality. The Chef is gone and though ‘National Ambulance’ is home with his maker Boye will forever remain in our hearts.
